I Built a Monster PC for MSFS 2024... Was It Worth It?

AeroHarold legt uit dat hij een nieuwe pc wilde bouwen voor Microsoft Flight Simulator omdat algemene benchmarkvideos weinig laten zien over prestaties met veel add-ons, zoals een A320, gedetailleerde scenery, GSX en externe hardware. Hij gebruikt dezelfde pc ook voor contentcreatie, waardoor OBS en andere programmas in de achtergrond draaien. Daarom zoekt hij meer ruimte dan iemand die alleen vliegt. Hij zegt dat er geen perfecte flight simulator pc voor iedereen is en dat een Cessna-vlucht andere eisen heeft dan een Phoenix A320 of de inner builds A380 met gedetailleerde airports.
Specificaties van de pc
Hij noemt 64 gigabyte ram, een RTX 5080 gpu, een Ryzen 7 9800 X3D cpu, een snelle nvme m.2 ssd, een voeding van 1000 watt en een MSI Mag B850 Tomahawk Wi-Fi moederbord. De grote cache van de X3D-cpu kan volgens hem nuttig zijn in Microsoft Flight Simulator, omdat het spel veel cpu-gebruik kent. Snelle opslag helpt bij het laden van scenery, vliegtuigbestanden en add-ons. De voeding geeft ruimte voor toekomstige upgrades.
Instellingen en prestaties
De pc draait op 1440p met DLSS aan en frame gen uit. Veel instellingen staan op high of ultra, maar motion blur, air traffic quantity, services en parked aircraft staan laag of uit. In de cockpit van Gatwick blijft het rond 45 tot 50 fps, met dalingen naar ongeveer 38 fps bij beweging. Buiten het vliegtuig ligt het rond 38 tot 42 fps. Tijdens takeoff is het rond 42 fps op de runway en stijgt het richting 50 fps. Op cruisehoogte meldt hij midden 50 tot 60 fps, ook buiten het vliegtuig rond 50 fps.
Landing en scenery
Bij de approach naar London City Airport blijft het rond 40 fps, met een stabiele rendering. Na landing daalt het iets terwijl een nieuwe luchthaven wordt gerenderd. De spreker toont gebouwen die vreemd ogen, zwevende objecten en een monorail die niet goed lijkt. Hij noemt merken zoals any builds en InieBuilds die scenery maken. Vervolgens zet hij instellingen van high naar ultra en merkt op dat de bomen er vrijwel exact hetzelfde uitzien.
