I am 33 years old and planning to start flight training with the long-term objective of flying for an airline. Aviation has been a long-standing interest of mine, but due to financial constraints I was unable to pursue it earlier. I now have sufficient savings to start with a PPL , with the intention of progressing further if circumstances allow.

My academic and professional background is in accounting and finance , so I am trying to approach this decision in a structured and realistic way.

My main question concerns how to objectively evaluate flight schools in the Netherlands, particularly with respect to:

• Training quality and standardization


• Aircraft availability and maintenance standards


• Instructor experience and continuity


• Schedule reliability (weather, instructor availability, cancellations)


• Cost transparency and total cost to PPL (and beyond)


• Suitability as a starting point for a potential modular ATPL path

So far, I have identified the following schools:

• Breda Aviation


• Wings over Holland


• Special Air Services (vlieglessen.nl)


• E-Flight Academy


• Executive Flight School (I have been advised to avoid this school, but without clear technical reasons)


• EFTC

If there are other schools worth considering, I would appreciate any recommendations.

I am aware that flight training in the Netherlands is relatively expensive compared to other European countries. While I am open to alternatives, I am currently unable to leave the Netherlands for training abroad, so my options are limited to domestic schools for now.

Any insights, first-hand experiences, or advice on how to properly assess and compare these schools would be very helpful.
